Afghanistan joined IHP+ on May 22, 2014 during the 67th World Health Assembly in Geneva. Dr Suraya Dalil, Minister of Health of Afghanistan, signed the IHP+ Global Compact on behalf of Afghanistan. Afghanistan developed a National Health Policy 2016-2020 and National Health and Nutrition Policy 2012-2020. It participated in the 5th IHP+ monitoring round which tracked progress on the implementation of eight practices for effective development cooperation (EDC).
